Ahoy mateys! Today is the one day of the year that it’s acceptable to wear a parrot on your shoulder. It’s also the perfect day to make all of your enemies walk the plank! Or, you could just throw on an eye patch and a peg leg. Actually, that’s probably a better idea. Arrrghhh!
We have another good idea: in honor of Talk Like a Pirate Day, we should feature some awesome fan art inspired by one of our favorite film franchises, The Pirates of the Caribbean.

The franchise began in 2003 (can you believe it was that long ago?!) with The Curse of the Black Pearl. In the first film, we meet the dashing blacksmith Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and the crazy but lovable Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp). The pair have teamed up to save Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) from un-dead pirates, lead by Captain Jack’s estranged first mate, Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush).

In 2006, Will, Elizabeth and Captain Jack reunited in search of the Dead Man’s Chest, which contained the heart of Davy Jones (Bill Nighy). The chest was wanted by Lord Cutler Beckett (Tom Hollander), and would allow him to control the seas.

At World’s End (2007) finds Will, Elizabeth and Captain Barbossa aboard the Black Pearl, on a mission to rescue Captain Jack—we won’t ruin it by telling you why he needed rescuing.

Oh, but don’t worry. That’s not the end of the series. There’s another movie on the way, although it is a way off. Dead Men Tell No Tales is set to come out on July 7, 2017, and who knows what sort of trouble we’ll find the gang in?
