The skylines we know so well across the world are changing. By 2017, there will be new skyscrapers towering over the old buildings we used to claim as the tallest skyscrapers in the world. Of the eleven skyscrapers (2 are tied as the tenth tallest), can you take a guess as to which country made it onto the list 6 times? I’ll narrow down the choices for you: the countries/states on the list are New York, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and China.

10. (Tied) International Commerce Center 1

Description:

As a centerpiece of the Tian Di Master Plan, the Chongqing International Trade and Commerce Center will provide a synergy of uses, including office, residential, retail and entertainment to bring energy, activity and value to the site. Inspired by the sailing ships that once plied the waters of the surrounding Yangtze and Jialing Rivers, the Chongqing International Trade and Commerce Center’s lightness and graceful form is expressed both in the simple form of the tower and in adjacent low-rise towers and retail podium. The complex features 134,900 square meters of Class A office space, a 400-key five-star hotel, 55 condominiums, and 8,550 square meters of retail. Description:

Situated on a prominent waterfront site in Korea, the Busan Lotte [Town] Tower is poised to become the new gateway to East Asia. Standing at over 510 meters, the landmark tower holds a vast 6.3 million sf mixed-use program consisting of office, hotel, condo, retail and entertainment facilities and underground parking. The streetscape is enlivened by a vibrant retail podium, while the waterfront side features raised parks and plazas that connect directly to the promenade.  (via)

  1. Beautiful buildings. Well, except for that Saudi monstrosity which looks like it went to Vegas, failed, and was exiled to the desert. lol
