The City of Paris commissioned Palatre & Leclere Architects in 2011 for a major renovation project: this French elementary school. Well, more specifically, a kindergarten renovation. With a budget of €1,800,000 (about $2.25 million USD), the architect and design company set out to transform this 1,260 square meter (about 12,562 square feet) space into a playful and creative school for children. Because seriously, who said all schools needed to look like dingy office buildings?
They designed the school’s front courtyard to create a sense of optimism in the urban skyline. The entire elementary school unfolds on three levels, creating a gorgeous standout and playful environment for the children who attend this school (lucky kids, if I do say so myself).
They were also commissioned to build the furniture and design the interior. You can check out the gorgeous and playful interior at Palatre & Leclere Architects’ project page.
Isn’t this French elementary school simply amazing?
