Los Angeles-based urban planning and design company Graft really pulled out all the stops when they were hired to design the 1,270 sq. ft. loft in a restored Hamburg residential building. What would otherwise be a standard high-ceiling and minimalist white space truly stands out because of its focal point: a pod in the center of the loft
The pod, which evokes a rustic feel with its textured walnut panels, serves an even more functional purpose, as it houses the gourmet kitchen, a stone-covered bathroom, as well as shelves for a multitude of books. Even more, it hides the central heating, cooling, and plumbing.
The walnut pod provides a wonderful contrasts to the soft fabrics and sleek furniture choices in the rest of the loft. [via The Cool Hunter]
