There’s nothing we love better than an amazing DIY. We especially love when the DIY involves repurposing old things and taking them from drab to fab. If you’re like us, we think you’re going to particularly enjoy this video, where Salvage Dawgs Mike Whiteside and Robert Kulp are showing us how to transform old luggage into a chair. Get ready for this DIY chair idea!
To get started, make sure you find a trunk-style luggage that’s a bit vintage-y. You’ll also want to make sure the size of the trunk works for you, because it will ultimately determine how big your chair will be. You’ll also want to look for your legs. Typically, you want the legs of the chair to be large for great support.
Once you have your luggage picked out, glue and screw wooden cleats at the interior base. Then, measure the inside of your trunk, and cut the base and back support to fit it properly. You’ll add the seat by cutting another piece of plywood, and gluing and screwing it the base. After, you’ll cut your legs down to size, and attach them to the trunk.
The next step will be to upholster the seat and back. Add cushion material to the wood, and then drape it in your favorite fabric. Finally, you’ll paint the legs any color your want and that’s all!
