HGTV has done it again. They have taken our little designer hearts and filled them to a point of bursting excitement over a home. Every year, HGTV gives away a free apartment in a major city in one of their sweepstakes called Urban Oasis. Last year, Urban Oasis gave away a free apartment in New York (sorry we forgot to tell you), but this year they are giving away an apartment on the Boston Commons in Boston, Massachusetts. The contest began on August 26, 2013 and continues until October 18, 2013. People 21 and over who enter are eligible to win the apartment which is located in The Residences at W Boston (valued at $950,000) and a car (valued at $56,505) or in lieu of the apartment, participants can take $725,000 in a cash prize instead. I would say that is a win-win situation, wouldn’t you?
The chances of winning are so slim, but it is still fun to enter the sweepstakes everyday. Even if you don’t win – which as much as I hate to say it, you probably won’t – the apartment is incredible. Designed by Lindsay Pumpa, it is a one bedroom and 1.5 bathroom, 1,000 square foot home on the 24th floor of the W.
We are jealous that Pumpa was able to have play time with all these brand-new, state of the art appliances and furnishings. The apartment style is traditional with a contemporary vibe, with dark surfaces contrasting with light accents to create an ambiance that is both romantic and functional at the same time.
Take a short tour of the apartment below.
Possibly the best part of the apartment is the master bathroom, more specifically the toilet. The bathroom in its entirety is a masterpiece with its modern sink nozzles and operational shower system (it looks like a space ship in there), but the toilet is one of a kind. The toilet in the master bathroom is a water efficient throne with a heated seat, heated foot warmer, audio controls, and a motion detector cover. You may never have to ask your hubby to put the seat cover down again.
Well done, HGTV! You have inspired us yet again with such an elaborate show of design, while simultaneously making us crazy enough to enter a slim chance sweepstakes twice a day. This apartment is almost too beautiful to live in, but we congratulate whoever wins… it could be you!
