make a pinwheel

There’s one thing every yard needs: a pinwheel or pin spinner as some people call it. A pinwheel is just a yard staple that you must have. And if you want this classic feature but are looking to stand out from the crowd, try making a giant pinwheel. In the video above from HGTV, you’ll learn how to make a pinwheel out of just a few supplies.

To get started, grab your favorite decorative paper and heavy poster board. Attach both together with spray adhesive. Then, grab a straight edge, and make an X on the paper. Next, mark off eight inches on each corner, and cut up to those points. You’ll then want to fold the paper in half and hole punch the center. You’ll also hole punch the bottom right of each triangle.

Now it’s time to move on to the dowel rod and pink eraser. You’ll cut the eraser into a square, and make a dowel imprint. Cut out the hole using a utility knife, and stick the rod into it.

When you’re ready to assemble, gather the hole-punched corners to the center, and hold them in place with a push pin. Finally, add the eraser and rod to the back, and voila!

If it sounds complicated, trust us it isn’t. Check out the video above to see more!
