The need for physical methods to transfer our files is slowly becoming irrelevant. People are trading in their external hard drives and flash drives in favor of saving files on the cloud. And let’s not even get into CDs and DVDs. Remember how, only 10 years ago, CDs were the revolutionary storage device that would replace the floppy disk? (It might have been longer than 10 years; floppy disks were a tool we used in middle school…) So thinking about the floppy disk is certainly sending us down memory lane. That’s why we were absolutely delighted when Berlin-based architect Axel van Excel and sculptor Marian Neulant collaborated to create the Floppy Disk Table!
There’s no denying that the table is awesome. Plus, there are endless moments of amusement to be had when you open up the metal shutter that houses secret compartment! Each unit is lasered with a serial number as a mark of authenticity.
We are also amused by the extra detail they went into adding the arrow detail that is in a real floppy disk.
Isn’t this table glorious? It’s a real techie’s dream.
Would you buy a Floppy Disk Table?
